Painting of new light in the Chianti Region of Italy

This is my first entry, on the day before Thanksgiving ’09.

In putting up a portion of one of my most colorful paintings here as a heading, I cropped the top portion of “Tuscan Villa by The Sea” (c) Leslie Ehrin Fine Art All Rights Reserved because it shows a portion of land and sea, which are two themes I focus on in my paintings. That image seemed an appropriate sliver to use to identify my blog as it shows the  top sea and sky portion, with a high horizon line, suggesting that we can reach for new heights in our lives, by looking outwardly to Nature around us, as well as inwardly, to our own Nature, for clues as to how to live and create our lives more colorfully, joyously, and expressively.

The painting below the heading is Tuscan Dawn (c) All Rights Reserved Leslie Ehrin Fine Art. It depicts the dawn of a new day, in the Chianti wine region, just as starting this blog signifies the dawn of a new phase of life. The lone villa on a hill is an image I have used repeatedly in numerous paintings, as well as I have painted three villas atop a hillside in Chianti on this same agritourismo.  Several years ago, I painted this villa individually, and later with the other two surrounding it, because my moped broke down at the bottom of the hill that I was trying to climb. In hiking the hill to the house, I found a solution to the broken moped, rode  to a convent in San Gimignano where I stayed long enough to be inspired to paint several paintings that became keystones in my later “On The Road to San Gimignano” Series. Later, I revisited Greve in Chianti where the Villa in this painting is located that inspired this painting, called “Chianti Dawn”. That  majestic Villa provided me with inspiration, strength and direction when I was lost, until I refound my path and could continue on my way, exploring and painting the land in Tuscany.
